John Piper said it best in his revision of the Westminster Catechism, “The chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever.” Our aim should be to glorify God by worshipping Him, privately and publicly, in all we do. Worship begins with a heart that is yielded and centered on the Gospel of the Kingdom where Christ is the central focus, where He is both Savior and Lord.
The First Rock Fellowship Worship Team is committed to magnifying God, leading others to see His greatness and providing an atmosphere where people can communicate their love to God and listen for His voice as He sings over them! The worship leader, as defined by Bob Kauflin, “…magnifies the greatness of God in Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit by skillfully combining God’s Word with music, thereby motivating the gathered church to proclaim the gospel, to cherish God’s presence, and to live for God’s glory.” (Worship Matters)It is our heart-goal to worship God from a place of authenticity and humility. Worship leaders should be in pursuit of God’s heart, seeking the development of His character so that they may live an authentic Christian life. You cannot give what you have not received! Just as important, a worship leader should walk in humility by leading others to the throne of God and, then, get out of the way. The goal is provide an atmosphere where the congregation, along with the worship leader(s), may intimately engage with God in a holy conversation, man declaring God’s worth and glory and God ministering His love and power. Our focus is God, our pursuit His heart!
